Reporting from Isabela, Puerto Rico, quarantine day five: Bad Bunny is trying to stay entertained. Posting a montage of his activities on Instagram yesterday, Benito shows us what he’s been up to: Eating apples, playing rock, paper, scissors with his girlfriend, filing his nails, maybe taking up photography.

Benito is doing what basically everything everyone else is doing: Shifting between forced normalcy to frustrating boredom to a “let’s make the best of this” attitude.

But in this post, Bad Bunny gives us another option for entertainment: Dance along to the coronavirus themed corrido that soundtracks the clip.

Los Tres Tristes Tigres, a popular musical comedy trio from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, debuted the tune just a few days ago. Already, “El pinche coronavirus a todos sacó de quicio,” as el “Canción del Coronavirus” begins, has been played more than a million times on YouTube, and more than two million times on Facebook.

They’ve canceled schools, concerts, closed Disneylandia, the singer laments. In the grand corrido tradition, the song is a reflection of daily life: This is what it’s like now and for the foreseeable future. And as jokey as the song comes off, its lyrics also remind us to take COVID-19 seriously: “Con el salud no se juega,” Los Tres Tristes Tigres warn.

Benito’s clip is a dry laugh, too—but you also seem him cleaning. If this were the era of paparazzi peeping, rather than the age of celebrities oversharing on socials of their own accord, the tabloid would read: “Stars! They’re just like us.” (That’s actually still a staple of Us Weekly, by the way.)
