For Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rosselló, the last few days have been tumultuous. Recently, a series of mocking and contemptuous Telegram messages – both from Rosselló and members of his cabinet – were released. They made fun of people both in and outside of his party, sometimes using profanity to get their ideas across. This led to two senior members of his government quitting, and now people are hoping Ricky, who has been embroiled in other controversies, including corruption allegations, does the same. As the #RickyRenuncia hashtag grows and people head to the governor’s mansion to protest, Bad Bunny is also ready to join the protests.

On Monday, in a series of tweets, he said, “I sincerely believe in forgiveness, but one thing is to forgive and another thing is to let us be stepped on and lied to over and over again!! The f*cking joke is over! This generation will make a difference! We won’t be fooled again! MERA PUERTO RICO!! ?? I am going to the island and I would like to see you join me and those who have already taken to the streets!! These people think we’re afraid and we’re going to show them that they’re wrong!! VAMOS PA’ ENCIMA PUÑETA!!!”
This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has spoken about the controversy. A few days ago, he called the incident an embarrassment to the island. Bad Bunny explained that Ricky’s messages also insulted him and Residente – who paid Rosselló a surprise 2 a.m. visit back in January to talk about crime, education, and the Fiscal Oversight and Management Board – and said he is no friend of the governor.
While Bad Bunny, who was recently in Germany, didn’t say when he’d join protesters, we’ll keep an eye out and give you any updates.
