Blackpink’s highly-anticipated LP The Album was released today. The K-pop group teamed up with rap superstar Cardi B on the standout track “Bet You Wanna.”
The quartet’s debut album features eight tracks, and there are only two collaborations—both of which are with Latinas. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa teamed up with Mexican-American pop star Selena Gomez on the hit single “Ice Cream” and now they’re Team Cardi on “Bet You Wanna.”
Cardi B wrote “Bet You Wanna” with “Ice Cream” producers Mr. Franks and TBHits and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder. The ladies of Blackpink sing entirely in English on this song. Lisa makes a reference to another Latina icon, Shakira, with the lyric: “Every time I walk, my hips, they don’t lie.” Blackpink serves plenty of sass leading up to Cardi’s guest verse. “I bet if you make me sweat, I’ll still be on fire,” she spits. Bet on Blackpink and La Caldi to come through with a cool, bankable collaboration.
While Cardi B’s divorce proceedings with Migos’ Offset are underway, she’s staying busy with new music. The Dominican-American rapper recently featured on Brazilian pop star Anitta’s “Me Gusta” with Myke Towers. Now she’s on one of the biggest K-pop albums in the world.
