On Sept. 8, Billboard and Telemundo announced that Christina Aguilera would be this year’s Spirit of Hope Award recipient at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. They also revealed that the emblematic powerhouse vocalist will be performing at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Sept. 29.

The prestigious award – which has also been received by stars with the likes of Gloria Estefan, Emmanuel, and Los Tigres del Norte – will now be presented to Xtina for her gracious contributions to philanthropy and humanity.

Besides her noteworthy musical trajectory, Billboard notes the reasons behind the award also include her involvement in helping end domestic abuse, her prominent support of the LGBTQ+ community, and raising HIV/AIDS research awareness. It also pointed out the beloved pop star has traveled worldwide to help feed those in need.

With this hard-earned award, Xtina continues to enjoy the fruits of her ongoing musical labor. This year alone, she dropped her last Spanish-language album AGUILERA, which is the combination of her La Fuerza and La Tormenta EPs. La Fuerza EP’s success brought her back to the Billboard Latin Albums Charts after more than 20 years.

She’s also currently on tour presenting the album mentioned above. “SO much love has gone into AGUILERA ❤️‍🔥 ,” she wrote on social media. “Being able to share it with you live, hearing you sing along, and feeling the energy of this community is such an indescribable feeling. Thank you, fighters.”

Fans are happy to see the “Pa’ Mis Muchachas” singer receive this award. A Twitter user wrote: “We love a humanitarian and talented queen.” Another social media user said: “It was about time.”

What songs will she sing at the award ceremony? There’s only one way to find out. Tune in to the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards, airing live from the Watsco Center in Miami via Telemundo at 7 p.m. ET on Sept. 29.
