Eslabon Armado keeps taking its emo sierreño music to new heights. Yesterday (May 9), the Mexican-American band achieved the highest debut for a regional Mexican music album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

Eslabon Armado is no stranger to making history for regional Mexican music. Last year, the group’s previous album Nostalgia debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. That marked the first time a regional Mexican music LP cracked the top 10 of the chart.

On this week’s Billboard 200 chart, the guys of Eslabon Armado have outdone themselves. Their latest album Desvelado debuted at No. 6 on the chart. The band broke its own record for the highest regional Mexican music LP on the chart. It also marks the second time in history that an album in the genre appears in the top 10 following their last effort Nostalgia.

“Eslabon Armado are truly a global force in music,” said Angel del Villar, CEO of DEL Records, in a statement. “To see them constantly breaking their own records and making history in the process is hugely gratifying to everyone here at DEL Records. We feel we are just getting started with Eslabon Armado!”

Last month, Eslabon Armado made history alongside Peso Pluma. Their collaboration, “Ella Baila Sola,” became the first regional Mexican music song to crack the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This week, their viral love song sits at No. 4 on the chart.

In a recent interview with Remezcla, Eslabon Armado’s singer Pedro Tovar talked about música mexicana going global.

“I feel super good being part of the música mexicana explosion,” he said. “It’s an incredible movement right now that our genre is reaching a whole other level that’s never been seen before. That people all over the world are listening to my music, and they’re discovering who Eslabon Armado is. It’s amazing!”

This week, Eslabon Armado resumes its arena tour across the U.S. On July 15, the band will headline its own concert at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
