Reggaeton superstar J Balvin is the newest Pokémon Master. The rapper joined the world of Nintendo when he released a new song, “Ten Cuidado,” and a music video as part of Pokémon 25: The Album. The album is a collection of tracks by several musicians in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Japanese media franchise.

Along with Balvin, 10 other musicians participated in the project, including Cyn, Jax Jones, Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, and Louane.

“P25 Music has been an incredible journey in which we’ve been able to collaborate with so many amazing musicians to help us celebrate 25 years of Pokémon,” Colin Palmer, vice president of marketing for The Pokémon Company International said in a statement.

The music video starts with Balvin picking up a Pokéball and transforming into a Pokémon trainer reminiscent of Ash Ketchum. He then leaves his apartment and begins singing about going on a mission to collect Pokémon characters.

An animated Pikachu then shows up and gives Balvin a high-five. The duo strolls down the sidewalk together where Pikachu shoots out some powerful electric currents to help a couple of guys recharge their car’s dead battery.

Stealing the music video, however, is a Pokémon character known as Hitmontop, who shows his skills breakdancing to Balvin’s bop. Hitmontop spins on a spike that is atop his head, which drives all the onlookers wild.

Balvin has collaborated with a cartoon before. Earlier this year, he teamed up with SpongeBob SquarePants for the release of his song “Agua,” which was featured in the 2021 sequel The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.

Here’s to hoping Balvin catches as many Pokémon as humanly possible.
