After years in the game, it’s safe to say that a release put out by Mexican label Static Discos is surely quality material. They really have earned it. Their latest, a co-release with the Mexicalense weirdos Indian Gold Records, is the brand new EP by Polo Vega, a.k.a. Trillones. Eight months ago we premiered his first EP, From The Trees To The Satellites, and now he brings us this beauty.
The EP may be called Naive Again, but in this collection of songs Vega sounds anything but naïve. This time, his approach was to write and finish the songs quickly. In his own words, “to think less and play more.” And he turned up sounding more focused, more mature, and even a bit darker. The key elements continue to be texture and timbre, giving these house tracks (with a slight hint of reggaeton on “Hasta en sueños te defiendo“) stunning atmospheres.
