After 25 years of absence and marking the end of an era for Mexican popular music, Marco Antonio Solis announced the reunion of Los Bukis in a streaming event.
Broadcasted on Sunday (May 9), Bohemia En Pandemia was an online event hosted by Solis and transmitted through film platform Cinepolis Klic where the singer played selections from his highly successful solo career. He also seized the opportunity to share messages of hope, put the spotlight on his birthplace of Morelia, Michoacán, and spread joy to his fans. The audience is estimated to have been around the thousands.
For the last part of Bohemia En Pandemia, Marco Antonio was joined by his former bandmates Joel Solis, Javier Solis, Roberto Guadarrama, Eusebio Cortez, and Pedro Sánchez, to play their biggest hit as Los Bukis, “Tu Cárcel” for the first time in a quarter of a century. To say it brought the house down is an understatement.

Los Bukis formed in 1973 in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán. Over the next two decades, they became one of the most popular and important grupero bands in the history of Mexican music. Their ultra melodic, romantic, and polished music helped the style cross over into mainstream radio and television, helping the genre gain a bigger audience to international stages. Songs like “Quiéreme,” “Me Volví Acordar De Ti,” “Como Fui a Enamorarme de Ti,” and the aforementioned “Tu Cárcel” are some of their record-breaking hits, a streak of success that lasted until their dissolution in 1996.
Wearing matching outfits like in their heyday, Los Bukis performed “Tu Cárcel” from Marco Musical studios where they had recorded some of their biggest hits. Although they played only one song, fans soon flooded social media with excitement about the reunion.
