Omar Apollo’s rise to stardom is now unstoppable, as the Mexican-American artist made his television debut last night as the musical guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers. He’s come a long way from recording in his Hobart, Indiana bedroom, now landing in the NBC studios in New York City to perform the opening track from his 2019 EP Friends, “Ashamed.”

Taking a cue from the likes of Prince, musical- and performance-wise, Omar Apollo took absolute control of the stage while performing “Ashamed,” backed by his tight live band for almost five minutes. He sported a sparkling two-piece suit while he struck his best moves to his funkfied beat, switching from his attitude-packed falsetto to the tender vocal melodies of the song’s chorus. To wrap things off, right when the song switched to its slowed-down outro, he shredded on his guitar and had a solo duel with his guitarist. It was an exceptional performance that captured what his live energy is all about.

Omar Apollo is about to embark on his The Speed of Sound tour, which kicks off in Las Vegas on November 1 and is taking him to over 20 cities across North America and Europe. Check out his complete tour schedule below, and get your tickets here.
