After spending the past year building excitement with sold-out parties and local shows, the team behind Atlanta’s OYE Fest is ready to let loose their inaugural edition this summer, bringing the very best of Latino talent to the city. When we previously featured OYE Fest as one of the highlights of the summer festival season, we teased two of the headliners: the incomparable Ivy Queen and young Chicano star Cuco. Now that the organization has shared the full festival lineup, we’re already making plans for an August road trip to the South.
Joining the festival this year is Peruvian-American artist A.CHAL, Los Angeles’ psychedelic dream pop outfit The Marías, and Bien Buena selectors Riobamba and Uproot Andy. Los Rakas are coming all the way from the West Coast with their Panamanian swag, and Mexican Jihad will be there to represent NAAFI on the dance floor.
Closing out the lineup are notable local talents like political punk threesome Yukons, genre-hopping DJs Anonima and Xavier BLK, and rock quartet Bitter, as well as Brooklyn’s own Oscar Nñ, among others. The festival is also set to include art installations, lectures, and vendors, and $5 of each ticket sold will be donated to United We Dream, an organization dedicated to defending immigrants by supporting sanctuary movements all over the United States.
