It’s official: fans finally got the announcement we’ve been waiting for. On Aug. 6, BLACKPINK’s Lisa just announced a new song, “New Woman,” featuring Rosalía on her Instagram. After years of friendship and mutual admiration, this will mark the first collaboration between the international superstars — but hopefully not the last.

Yesterday (Aug. 5), LLOUD, Lisa’s record label, tweeted a snippet of the song, which featured the lyrics: “Bangin’ it, bangin’ it, wanna crack these walls/ Bangin’ it, bangin’ it, wanna echo through the halls. Pullin’ up, fresh face, brand new día.”

Around the same time, Rosalía shared a few seconds of her new song to fans on her Instagram live. Then, fans spotted a billboard on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA, that featured a teaser image of Rosalía and Lisa’s legs and the lyrics “pulling up fresh face / brand new día” — which only added to the speculation and theories.

But today, the Thai and Spanish singers confirmed the rumors by releasing a photo teaser of the collab song on Instagram, announcing that it will be live on Aug. 15. Lisa even wore a MOTOMAMI-inspired jacket and skirt combo.

“New Woman” will follow Lisa’s mega-successful single “Rockstar,” which skyrocketed the K-pop star into a new, edgier phase in her solo career. She has previously talked about how inspired she was by Rosalía’s music in a Rolling Stone interview: “Rosalía is so cool. She has her own Spanish culture, that’s inside her person, that influences her music. I’m curious to know how much I can expand what I do. Music-wise, dance-wise, I feel like I still have to learn more.” In another interview with Spotify’s Billions Club series, Lisa mentioned Rosalía as her dream collaboration. “I have one person in mind who I would like to work with, which is Rosalia, because I love her music, yes,” she said.

And, of course, Latine K-pop fans in particular are freaking out. “That’s my Spanish and Thai women out there. Maximizing their joint slay,” one fan tweeted.

“Rosalía hasn’t dropped any music in around a year and the fact that she decided she wanted her first release in 2024 to be with Lisa must have meant it was really special. all the more reasons to make this song a hit,” mentions another.
