Enter the World of Tino El Pingüino in This Epic Three-Part Video Suite

This year we’ve heard a lot from Franco Genel’s other project The Guadaloops, but it has been in the last couple of weeks that we have seen the return of the charismatic MC to do his own stuff. “Tres Tristes Triggers” sees him one-upping himself and his bandmates in the visual front.

Now, thanks to Infinito Corazón’s directors Patricia Peregrín and Daniel M. Torres, we have a veritable cinematic epic for Genel to spew his rage in verse form. “Tres Tristes Triggers” nods to the three songs featured in the short as well as Tino’s lyrical ability. The songs in question are short bursts, all culled from Franco’s Ego, Fui A Comer Regreso Pronto album.

The journey begins with the track “Enamorado,” a furious declaration of what Tino likes in life; in this segment we see him getting a hell of a party on his own apartment by himself, showering himself with beers and smoking cigarette after cigarette. Then a phone call signals the next track “Wild & Weird” which in turn sees him partying with friends and well-wishers, all involved getting down to the beat (watch out for some cameos). The track barely ends with a chipmunk diva sample when we see Genel leave the party and check his cell phone for messages, then things get dark with “Porcino,” a confessional number that is the most serious of the bunch. Here, we see the story of a tormented couple and Tino walking off his problems with a wicked stare to the camera lense.

The exquisitely executed short invites you into the world of Tino El Pingüino and gives you a great idea of what he’s all about. According to Torres, the video was edited as it went and was done in a really fast manner, proof that good things not only come to those who wait, but also to those who hurry.
