We’ve seen Colombia-born singer Kali Uchis quickly gain international recognition with her old-school sensibilities and modern-day attitude (and her star collaborations, of course), and we’re always excited to hear what she’ll deliver next.
The latest of the string of singles she’s released in the past few months, and right after the ska-tinted “Know What I Want,” is a lovely nu-soul number called “Lottery,” directly based on the Delegation song “Oh Honey.” The reworking of the Motown-esque main sample gives it an underlying hip-hop feel, while she sings over it with her honey-sweet voice, melting hearts with every word.
