Bardi Gang, rejoice: the long-awaited collab between El Alfa and Cardi B has arrived. With another high-profile feature, the Bronx-born rapper continues her commitment to uplifting artists from the Spanish-language music industry. The dembow titan and Invasion of Privacy star have linked for “Mi Mami,” a saccharine, dancehall-inflected duet. In the video, Cardi appears in a pink wig, lounging in a lingerie and crooning about her boo. As expected, El Alfa delivers plenty of filthy quotables, complete with some bisexual lighting (Choice lyrics include: “cuando tu me de ese pan, le pongo el salami”).

Because of all the excitement around these two artists bridging the gap between distinct industries, and because Cardi teased her love of dembow earlier this summer, many fans were surprised to find out that the two stars chose not to explore more expected territory, like Dominican dembow or hip-hop. Some took to social media to voice their disappointment.
