Premiere: Las Acevedo Are Back As Darkbow Trio MULA

Las Acevedo are not dead. What they are is hard at work experimenting with a new dark dembow sound with the help of Rach Ro (Rachel Rojas). The trio, known as MULA, takes more of its influence from Ro’s electronic work than from Las Acevedo‘s sun-filled, acoustic picnic-pop tunes.

“Playa” is their latest track, and odds are most their fans wouldn’t have recognized the song as the work of either Anabel or Cristabel Acevedo. It’s loaded with synths, dark beats, and vocals that are more sultry and sexy rather than cheery and raspy. In other words: we like it!
