Spring has finally sprung, and with summer just around the corner, an avalanche of bangers from our favorite pop stars is all but imminent. Cue Chilean synthpop goddess Javiera Mena, who has just dropped a new single named “Intuición,” featuring Bomba Estéreo powerhouse vocalist Li Saumet. “Intuición” comes hot off the heels of last year’s smash hit “Dentro De Tí,” with both songs building buzzy anticipation for her forthcoming fourth studio album, due in April.
“Intuición” is a balmy, laid-back pop song perfect for a night of partying on the beach. The song is loaded with all our favorite Javiera Mena hallmarks: glitzy synth melodies, carefree energy, and a soaring chorus tailor-made for fans to sing at the top of their lungs, thanks in part to production from El Guincho. Bringing Li Saumet into the fold not only ups the song’s coastal groove, but also points to the wider audiences Mena aims to reach in the wake of her recent signing to Sony Music Latin. Mena also teamed up with CANADA and director Virgili Jubero to develop the video for “Intuición,” setting the angst-filled clip in the seaside Spanish town of Benidorm, near the city of Alicante.
The last few years of Javiera Mena’s career have been defined by the stadium-sized singles of her last record and the massive international touring that followed in its wake. Though we don’t expect Mena to leave the dance floor behind any time soon, these latest singles point to a more restrained artist and musical creator focused on presenting sleek, introspective productions.
