Mexican singer-songwriter Junior H is the newest artist to emerge from the powerhouse corridos urbanos label Rancho Humilde. He gets off the roster bench and shoots his shot with the Atrapado En Un Sueño EP.
The 18-year-old made his debut with Rancho Humilde on last year’s Corridos Tumbados album featuring his labelmates like Dan Sanchez, Nueva Era and one of the genre’s biggest artists, Natanael Cano. On Atrapado En Un Sueño, Junior H makes his own mark across 7 hazy yet hopeful tracks.
“I hope with this project that people get to know more here in the U.S. and in Mexico,” the Guanajuato-native tells Remezcla. “That’s the goal: to keep growing from here and little-by-little reach the people.”
In the gray times that we’re in, Junior H keeps his head up in the hood on “Mente Positiva.” Cano makes an uncredited appearance on “Si Mañana” to help his buddy move on from an unappreciative ex. The title track perfectly documents Junior H’s experience as an artist on the rise. “I’m flying and it’s not because of the grass of yesteryear,” he sings in Spanish. “I don’t know where I’m going but I feel safe.”
Atrapado En Un Sueño sounds like a dream come true for Rancho Humilde’s next star. “I want to do another project like this in the future,” Junior H says. “I want to follow a path where this will be linked to the new stuff that I do next. I’m going to keep writing and working hard.”
