Tijuana’s Mint Field, who were recently reincarnated as a duo consisting of members Estrella Sánchez and Amor Amezcua, have become the Mexican indie revelation of 2016. Thanks to their brilliant, minimalist dream pop and their constant touring, they’ve graced stages across the U.S. and Mexico, including this year’s edition of Coachella. Mint Field has done so much this year that sometimes it’s easy to forget they’re just starting out.

After a short respite, they are back with their first song after the lineup change, which we’re premiering here on Remezcla. The title, “Nada Es Estático Y Evoluciona,” might allude to the recent shift in personnel. Either way, this is one of their most brilliant musical compositions to date. The goth ballad opens with a calm, dark atmosphere reminiscent of peak 4AD signees, like This Mortal Coil or Dead Can Dance. After that, the eight-minute song transforms into a slow climb towards an ultra melodic dirge of sorrow. It’s one of their most fully realized musical ideas and proof that they are on the path to success.

“Nada Es Estático y Evoluciona” will appear on Mint Field’s upcoming album Pasar de las luces. Check out their upcoming Mexican tour dates below.
