Brazilian indie pop crooner Silva just dropped his newest single “Sou Desse Jeito,” a smooth and earnest tale in finding yourself. The song is from his forthcoming album Jupiter, an elevated pop statement packed with meticulously programmed beats and exquisite production. While his previous album Vista Pro Mar was exuberant and at times experimental in nature, Silva has reigned in his inspirations to present us with one of his most refined and understated works to date.

“Sou Desse Jeito” is a standout moment for Silva, representative of the gentle and sensual mood he aims to create on Jupiter. It’s an intimate track, though more confessional than sexual. He opens the track by singing “Um dia eu percebi que era meu jeito. É o que existe em mim não é defeito,” which translates to “One day I realized I was this way. It’s what exists in me, it’s not a defect.” The lyrics continue to follow this soul-baring narrative, trading “Born This Way” bombast in favor of sober emotion. Though introspective, Silva’s pop sensibilities continue to shine, making this a silky and instantly replayable song.

Ultimately, it’s a story about knowing yourself and being comfortable in your own skin. Clearly, Silva is there, and only getting better at honest storytelling. As Silva describes, “‘Sou Desse Jeito’ is about being free to be who you are and to love unconditionally. It’s my new bossa.”

Jupiter drops in the U.S. and Canada on March 11 via Six Degrees Records. Pre-order the album on Amazon and iTunes now.
