Javier “Chicharito” Hernández to Join German Club Bayer Leverkusen

Fútbol fam, the day is finally upon us. The day we all love and love to hate with all of our hearts: transfer deadline day. And guess who looks like he’s just touched down in Germany to complete a move to Bayer Leverkusen? That’s right, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández.

The Mexican international has already joined Bayer on a three-year, $18.5 million deal (€12 million). Consensus seems to be that rather than sitting the bench on a five-star team and scoring the occasional worldly goal (you already know I was in tears when he scored this UCL game-winner against Atleti), his prospects of competing for regular minutes with the German side are much better.

Chicharito is the kind of guy you just want to see succeed in life. You want to love him, support him, and cheer for him. He has the ability to score and create opportunities – this we know – but he’s been stuck in the shadows of the likes of Cristiano, Karim Benzema, and (dare I say) Wayne Rooney for too long. It’s time for the 27-year-old to shine. Who knows, maybe he’ll lead Bayer to a miraculous Champions League run!
