Raúl Gets a Legend’s Farewell with a Championship Win in His Final Match

Raúl González. Once a champion, always a champion. At 38 years old, the Real Madrid hero finished off his spectacular career with yet another championship, this time winning the NASL title with the New York Cosmos after a tight 3-2 win over Ottawa Fury FC.

Gastón Cellerino’s hat-trick sealed the deal for the Cosmos, who won their second league title in three years. But this was Raúl’s night.

It’s hard to even begin to describe how prolific this crack’s career truly was. In 16 years with Real Madrid, he won six La Liga titles and three European Cups, and up until very recently, he was the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. Damn.
