Ahead of Bad Bunny’s homecoming extravaganza and Premios Tu Música Urbano, there’s another can’t-miss music event on the horizon in Puerto Rico. Symphonic, the music distribution company focused on promoting independent music in Latin America, is excited to bring its first Music Industry Sessions to la isla del encanto. The Music Industry Sessions will unite key members from the local independent music community and gatekeepers from all over the Latinx music business, including label personnel, radio programmers, and more.
As Symphonic Distribution’s own Janette Berrios explains, “Independent music is at a level that’s never before been seen. No longer do artists need major record labels to grow and thrive, and Puerto Rico is one of the best examples of this. Music has become one of the leading exports in Puerto Rico and all throughout Latin America. There is so much talent, creativity, and color to all of it, and we want to make them realize the opportunity that they have in their hands. They have the ability to control their music and careers.” More independent artists are finding success without the backing of major labels; therefore, providing these artists with resources and helping them navigate some of the common challenges that come along with the route to stardom is more important than ever. Attendees can expect to learn about a ton of topics, including playlist placement, contract management, and festival bookings.
The sessions will start on Saturday with a series of informative panels at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, one of which features Remezcla’s own Joel Moya..
