  • Actor Edgar Ramírez (Yes Day) has joined the ensemble cast of Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black for the film Borderlands, which is based on a sci-fi video game set in the year 2864. Ramírez will star as Atlas, an arms manufacturer and businessman who wields massive power from his position. [Variety]
  • Actor and comedian Al Madrigal (Night School) will star in the sequel Stargirl 2 for Disney. Madrigal will play Iggy, an MC at a club. He joins a cast that includes Uma Thurman, Judy Greer and Judd Hirsch. [Deadline]
  • Director Antonio Campos (Christine) will direct six of the eight episodes for a limited-series drama on HBO Max based on the 2004 documentary The Staircase. The story follows a crime novelist named Michael Peterson who is accused of killing his wife Kathleen, who is found dead at the bottom of a staircase in 2001. [Deadline]
  • Marquis Freeman (TV’s When They See Us) joins the cast as a recurring guest star on the sixth season of Queen Sugar. He will play Isaiah, a college student who befriends actor Nicholas Ashe’s character Micha West. [The Futon Critic]
  • Alex Hernandez (TV’s Hemlock Grove) will star in Amazon’s upcoming original series The Peripheral based on the best-selling novel by William Gibson. Hernandez will portray the character Tommy Constantine. [Deadline]
