Frequent collaborators Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are at it again. The twosome, who first worked together in 2001’s Y tu mamá también, and most recently in the animated Netflix series Maya and the Three, are set to star together in the Spanish-language boxing series La Máquina. Bernal will star as an aging boxer going for his last shot at the title, while Luna will play the role of his manager.

Daredevil’s Marco Ramirez will serve as showrunner, with Gabriel Ripstein directing.

Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, had this to say about the series: “We are proud to partner again with Searchlight Television on this forthcoming Hulu Original. Gael, Diego and Marco are world-class storytellers and we look forward to bringing audiences their story and experiencing alongside them this last shot their characters get together.”

By last shot, of course, Erwich is referring to the characters in La Máquina, because we’re pretty sure this won’t be the last time Luna and García Bernal collaborate on screen. The two longtime friends even have a production company together, La Corriente del Golfo, which is also co-producing La Maquina, so the future remains brimming with possibilities for the two to reunite on and off screen.

For now, both Luna and García Bernal have projects coming to Disney+ in the near future. Luna is set to reprise his role as Cassian Andor in the upcoming Andor, a prequel to Rogue One, which is set to follow the birth of the Rebellion. The series will premiere Wednesday, August 31st, with the first two episodes. García Bernal, meanwhile, is set to star in Marvel’s Halloween special, which reportedly will be an adaptation of the comic book Werewolf by Night.
