“It’s time for another chapter of my rags-to-riches life story,” says actor Eugenio Derbez at the start of the official trailer for Season 2 of Acapulco.

“Time to take out the sunglasses!” Derbez wrote on Instagram.

The AppleTV+ bilingual comedy series, which debuted its first season a year ago, features Derbez as Máximo Gallardo Ramos, a super wealthy mogul who narrates the story of his success, which begins with a job at a popular resort in Acapulco, Mexico, in 1984.

In Season 2, the story picks up where the first one left off with the younger version of Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) still working as a cabana boy at Las Colinas. This year, however, his best friend and co-worker Memo (Fernando Carsa) has joined him poolside.

Now that Julia (Camila Perez) and Chad (Chord Overstreet) have made their engagement official, Máximo is going to have to figure out a way to get over her and move on with his life. “I was happy for them because I had my eyes on someone new,” Derbez’s Máximo reminisces in the trailer.

With the introduction of a new love interest and with his sights set on running the resort one day, Máximo continues to dream big. “I didn’t know it yet, but everything was about to change for me,” he said.

In the present day, the older Máximo returns to Acapulco to mourn the death of his mentor Don Pablo (Damián Alcázar). While there, he is forced to confront some unfinished business from his past.

The first two episodes of Season 2 of Acapulco, starring Eugenio Derbez, premiere on October 21, 2022, on Apple TV+. A new episode will air every Friday through December 16, 2022.
