Jamie Foxx and his entourage were apparently turned away as they were trying to get into Cardi B’s birthday party at Poppy nightclub in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (October 11).

According to TMZ, the Oscar winner and his approximately 10 guests showed up to the cabaret-themed birthday celebration late, and no one knew they were coming. With the party already packed, sources told TMZ there wasn’t any room in the club nor was there a section reserved for Foxx and his group. E! News reported that Foxx was on the guest list.

In a video circulating on social media from that night, Foxx is seen changing into a fresh pair of sneakers outside of his Rolls Royce before heading to the front door of the nightclub. The video is edited, but he seems to be there for less than a minute before he realizes that he’s not going to get in.

Foxx then proceeds to walk back to his vehicle. One paparazzi can be heard asking, “Jamie, they didn’t let you in?” The Django Unchained star then stops when, according to TMZ, a doorman follows him into the street to tell him that he can enter after all. Foxx, however, wasn’t about to walk back to the club.

“No, we not good,” Foxx tells him and then shakes his hand. “I love you […] but it was too much.”

It seemed to be too much, too, for Twitter users who were quick to post memes about the awkward situation. One user joked that NYC rapper Ice Spice was allowed into the party but not Foxx.

Another shared a video clip of Foxx doing an impersonation of Denzel Washington from the 1984 film A Soldier’s Story where Washington’s character tells a tyrannical sergeant, “You get your f—ing hands off me!” The Twitter user suggests those were the same words Foxx used when the security guard denied him entry into the club.

Remember that one episode of In Living Color from September 1993 where Jamie Foxx plays a bouncer and doesn’t let Tupac into his own concert? At least one person did.

Some even predicted his appearance on Good Morning America.

While others were thinking, “What’s going to happen when Cardi B finds out they turned away Jamie Foxx?”

Whatever happened, Cardi B’s party was something everyone wanted to get into.
