Lionel Messi’s Wife Antonela Celebrates Son’s Birthday With Heartwarming Photo

Mateo turned nine on Wednesday, September 11 and to celebrate, Antonela shared some photos of him on Instagram. Among the three images was one of Mateo, the couple’s middle child, with memorabilia from Argentina’s Copa America success in the summer, including netting from one of the goals, a winners’ medal and a match ball.

Messi’s wife wrote as the caption: “Many happy returns of the day Matu. We love you so much!!!! Thank you for making us so happy every day! 9years.”

Mateo showed that he may be a chip off the old block earlier this year when a video of him scoring five goals for Inter Miami’s Under-9s went viral. But it wasn’t just the goals that caught the eye – Mateo also copied one of his father’s iconic celebrations by blowing a kiss.

Messi, who has battled the flu this week, is closing in on a return to action after missing two months due to the ankle injury that he sustained in the Copa America final. He’s expected to feature in one of Inter Miami’s next two games – Gerardo Martino’s side take on Philadelphia Union on Sunday morning and Atlanta United next Thursday.
