Another season of Love is Blind is a new opportunity for a cast of contestants to try their hand at finding “the one.” For season 7, the hopefuls are from Washington, D.C., with 7 couples making it out of the pods but only 6 making it to Mexico for the ensuing vacation. Out of the 6 couples, one of them is Marissa George and Ramses Prashad. And what makes them special for our communities, is that they’re both of Latine descent.

Marissa is a 32-year-old lawyer of Black, Puerto Rican, and Trinidadian descent. She came on the Love is Blind journey to tug on the “invisible string” she believes connects her to her future husband. And Ramses is a 35-year-old of Venezuelan and Indo-Caribbean descent. He came to Love is Blind to look for someone “who practices empathy” and he feels ready to offer vulnerability.

Remezcla got an opportunity to interview Marissa about Love is Blind season 7. We talked about why she left the pods with Ramses and got engaged, the shows music, and the Puerto Rican spin-off she wants for the franchise now that we have a spin-off for Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

On the romance side of things, she picked Ramses to leave the pods with and get engaged on Love is Blind because of his ability to embrace vulnerability. “I think Ramses is so emotionally intelligent. And he’s so vulnerable. And I always lead with my heart and he tends to lead with his heart too and I was really attracted to that.”

She went on to explain that “One of the conversations we had around physical intimacy was just beautiful to me. It was profound and I was very shocked about a man talking about the way he was when it comes to intimacy. That’s where I was like, “Ok, this is my person.” I’m here.”

As for the spin-off, the way that Marissa already had her answer ready shows how proud she is of her Puerto Rican heritage. “I’m just gonna naturally say, I would love to see a Love is Blind: Puerto Rico. I think that would be really good to see. Have some Bad Bunny. I think that would be really amazing to see.” She also added, “I honestly think I would want to see more representation across the Latin American culture as well as the African-American culture.”

Love is Blind as a whole is also known for its well-timed themed songs.

Whether it’s a betrayal happening or feelings stirring up for the first time, this show has a song ready to play at the right moment. And if it was up to Marissa, she has a couple picks on what she’d want to play during season 7. She said, “I would love for them, during one of my scenes, to have Marc Anthony. “Vivir Mi Vida” is one of my favorites. But yeah, I would love to see Bad Bunny. Ramses loves Bad Bunny. Add him in there.”

And if those two aren’t available, she’s got a backup ready. “Maybe some Don Omar or Adventura. I just saw them, by the way. Some Romeo Santos in there? I’m good.”

Love is Blind season 7 episodes 1-6 are now on Netflix.
