Cardi B is Now Part of the Lore of Netflix’s ‘YOU’ — We Explain

YOU superfan Cardi B is now part of the lore of Joe Goldberg on the Netflix series.
For years Cardi B has shownYOU plenty of love. It started in October 2021 when she reacted to an interview where YOU star Penn Badgley confirmed he knew her. From there, Badgley changed his profile picture to an image of Cardi B. She folowed that by changing her profile picture on X (formerly Twitter) to one of Joe. The love kept going to the point where Netflix sent her a PR package and she posted it with a response that said, “How Joe found my new house address?”
The relationship between them kept growing when in season 4 they included her song “I Like It” in the first episode. And in the promotion for the final season, season 5, she’s been seen on the Still Watching Netflix YouTube channel reacting to the trailer for the final season and a recap of season 1 through 4.
Now Cardi B herself has cemented herself as being part of the lore of season 5 of YOU.

Joe’s newest obsession in season 5 is Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer. And at the end of episode 5, it’s revealed that Bronte knew who Joe was all along and was seeking revenge for Beck from season 1. After their livestream of Clayton’s death, Joe’s face is everywhere. That everywhere also includes social media.
In an unexpected twist of events, Joe is checking out what people are saying about him online in episode 7 after he tries to rehabilitate his reputation with an interview. And who should pop up but Cardi B herself. Joe comes across a post from her that says, “When there are allegations but he’s a 10 #JoeGoldberg.”
But that’s not the only time she pops up in the series.
In the final episode, Joe has a violent altercation with Bronte that somehow ends with him getting shot in the genitals. That’s when we see another post from Cardi B that reads, “He WAS a 10 now he’s a 2…inches #JoeGoldberg.”
