Oscar Magallanes – Mi Vida Boutique
Every second Saturday, galleries and other locales open their doors for NELA (Northeastern Los Angeles) Art Gallery night and on November 10 you can check out art where you might not expect it – inside a boutique. November 10 from 7 to 11 p.m. Mi Vida Boutique will host the opening for Oscar Magallane’s “Animism.” Sino Tequila supplies the tragos while you take in Magallane’s bold artwork of historically revolutionary people along with tough societal issues. If you miss the opening, no te preocupes – the show runs until December 2nd.

Panel: The Artist as Friend – Vincent Price Museum
Earlier, we told you about the work of Carlos Almaraz up at the Vincent Price Museum and if you’re the type of person that likes to hear more about the person behind the art, this Saturday’s a treat. On November 10 at 2 p.m. the museum hosts a panel discussion moderated by Dan Guerrero and including Barbara Carrasco, Richard Duardo, Frank Romero and John Valadez. The group chats about Almaraz on both a personal and artistic level as they shared a friendship with the influential artist.
Santiago Borja, Edgar Orlaineta and Tilman Wendland – LA><ART
What happens when you blend talented artists of different cultures with equally different mediums? LA><ART finds out with Exhibitions, which opens November 10th at 6 p.m. Santiago Borja and Edgar Orlaineta rep Mexico City while Tilman Wendland hails from Berlin; the trio gets inspiration from a 1961 book called Exhibitions written by Klaus Franck, which checks out the best of exhibit design in everything from trade to art. Don’t expect a two-dimensional show, though – think more along the lines of Hopi costumes and paper sculpture. Los Angeles’ diversity at its best.
