Sasha Sokol won her civil lawsuit against Luis de Llano for moral damages. On June 25, the former Timbiriche star revealed that the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico (Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación) ruled in her favor against the Mexican TV producer without amparo – meaning he will face all consequences of his sentence.

In March 2022, the Mexican actress and singer broke her silence about being a victim of an abusive relationship with de Llano when she was and he was 39. “As long as women in my situation do not dare to speak the truth, there will continue to be men like Luis de Llano,” Sokol wrote on X at the time. “From the age of 14, I wanted to believe that I was responsible for what happened. Today, I understand that my only responsibility was to remain silent.”

Her series of social media messages came after de Llano talked about the underage relationship during an interview with podcast host Yordi Rosado. In the video interview, de Llano confirmed having a relationship with Sokol, saying that “[he] fell in love, and [Sokol] sent [him] to Hell.”

“He abused me then and abuses me today by manipulating the truth – by wanting to minimize him to exempt him [from] responsibility in the facts,” she wrote on X. “Why does he lie every time he talks about me? Because he knows perfectly well that what he did is a crime. Throughout our relationship, I was a minor.”

This resulted in a former civil lawsuit against de Llano, which was revealed in July 2022. In the lawsuit, she says that de Llano “openly recognized” a romantic relationship with a girl who was 25 years younger than him at the time, and that child abuse is a subject that should be taken seriously. Moreover, her lawsuit requested that de Llano be taken to trial, publicly apologize to the star, and receive financial compensation.

Fast forward to now, the Supreme Court sided with Sokol “after proving that he committed sexual abuse,” per her statement. But it’s more than a personal win – with this case’s results, the court has also rewritten legal precedents. “This sentence transcends by far my personal case and opens the way to civil lawsuits for other victims, since the First Chamber of the SCJN has declared the imprescriptibly of the civil action in cases of sexual abuse of minors,” she wrote on Instagram. According to Infobae, this means that victims of child sexual abuse in Mexico will be able to file civil lawsuits “without a statute of limitations.”

Per the aforementioned publication, de Llano’s sentence includes a public apology for his actions, an agreement to take a course specializing in the prevention of sexually abusive behavior, and not to mention Sokol’s name under any circumstances.

“Getting things this far has given me back the ability to act. Today I have the reins of my life in my hands and I can take care of myself,” she said at the end of the statement. “Stabilizing the truth is the beginning of repair.”
