Bad Bunny officially kicked off his highly anticipated and historic “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan! Not only did he put on a nearly three-hour show on Friday (July 11), but he started the residency with what appears to be an unreleased song.
Benito is set to perform 30 sold-out shows on his island before heading out on a global tour – sans mainland U.S. Though fans have been speculating what songs would be part of the Puerto Rican icon’s show, they were surprised to hear him start his show with a brand new song. The new track features a plena-infused rhythm and reggaeton hues with bittersweet lyrics to a lover like, “Ninguna se ve / Ay dios mio,” “Estoy triste que no la vuelvo a ver / F*ck,” and “Tú eres la baby / No te cambio por cien.” He repeats, “Como tú ninguna se ve,” reiterating his feelings towards a special someone. The song has English words sprinkled in like “daddy” and “horny.” Though he premiered it during the first night, it’s unclear when he will officially release it on streaming platforms.
However, Puerto Rican travel and culture journalist Victoria Leandra, who covered the opening night for Remezcla, says the experience gave the audience a chance to take in the residency’s detailed scenery, which included cultural elements like the album’s signature white chairs, and the island’s traditional dances. “The message that I took away from the fact that he began with a new song is, ‘You think this is the best you’ve seen of me? But no, you haven’t even seen what’s coming,’” she says, sharing her reaction moments after coming out of the show. “It was sort of like, ‘I am not gonna give you what you want, I’m gonna give you a hint of what’s coming. A hint to the fact that I still have so much more to give.’ That’s what I took away.”
Fans are excited about the new song. An X user wrote: “WHAT DO YOU MEAN BAD BUNNY RELEASED A NEW SONG AND THEY ARE LISTENING TO IT FIRST IN PR I THINK IT’S PERFECT AND GREAT I LOVE YOU GORDO.” Other social media users think it’s a residency exclusive. An X user said: “My prediction is that Bad Bunny’s new song won’t come out at all, it doesn’t make sense considering the name, maybe he will only sing it at the residency.”

Whether or not the song is officially released, Puerto Rico experienced a unique opening night. Another highlight from the show was U.S. athlete LeBron James’ presence throughout the show. The iconic basketball player danced with Benito on songs like “Tití Me Preguntó” and “Safaera.” The already iconic “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency continues tonight (July 12).
