The Miss Universe pageant is coming to Puerto Rico for its 75th anniversary, aka the Diamond Anniversary. The news was announced online by the official Miss Universe account on Instagram on Tuesday, September 23, alongside a video featuring Mexican businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú, the President of Miss Universe.
“With tremendous pride, I announce today that Puerto Rico will host the 75th anniversary of Miss Universe,” Rocha Cantú said. “A historic event that celebrates more than seven decades of culture, beauty, and inspiration.”
He also said that Puerto Rico will have the eyes of the world on the island all year, and over 135 nations are expected to compete in the upcoming pageant. “It will be a unique and unrepeatable diamond anniversary,” he promised. Miss Universe’s video also celebrated the history of Puerto Rican beauty queens.
The caption of the post read: “Puerto Rico will host the 75th Anniversary of Miss Universe Competition in November 2026!! The upcoming Miss Universe’s location was first revealed in a press conference by the Miss Universe organization and Governor Jenniffer González. The event will take place at the José Miguel Agrelot Puerto Rico Coliseum aka El Choliseo or El Choli. It will be the fourth time Puerto Rico has hosted this event after the 1972, 2001, and 2002 editions.
Puerto Rican Miss Universes Deborah Carthy-Deu (1985), Denise Quiñones (2001), and Zuleyka Rivera (2006), as well as Dayanara Torres (1993), who attended via video call, were present for the announcement.
Before looking forward to next year’s anniversary edition, this year’s pageant, the 74th edition, is set to be held at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand, on November 21, 2025. Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark will crown her successor at the conclusion of the event. And Telemundo will remain the exclusive Spanish-language home for the 74th Miss Universe.
