Rauw Alejandro is constantly expanding his sounds. On Sept. 26, the Puerto Rican superstar revealed his sixth album, Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0, featuring traditional Caribbean sounds from his island and beyond. Not only that, but the new album also demonstrates how good he sounds in bachata, a genre he has never fully dived into before. Cue in: “SILENCIO.”
Rauw has dabbled in bachata-infused music before, but with “SILENCIO,” he cements his knack for the genre. Last year, he released “Khé?” with Romeo Santos, giving us a mix of reggaeton and R&B, with a touch of bachata, but with “SILENCIO,” he dives deep into the genre. And guess what? His first official bachata track was co-produced and co-written by the King of Bachata himself, giving us Santos’ genre expertise through Rauw’s stand-out interpretation. “Nobody out there has a bachata by Romeo,” Rauw said about the track in an interview.
While it’s too early to predict what’s next for Rauw’s music, a full-on bachata era could be a great contender for his future. With Rauw’s soothing vocals, sensual lyrics, and tantalizing dance abilities, the Boricua singer has the je ne sais quoi that makes for a bachata album. Perhaps Santos could jump on to fully oversee the potential album, too?
For now, social media users are praising the bachata in his album. An X user wrote: “I didn’t know I needed this song so much in my life 😮💨 Rauw Alejandro, how naturally you perform a bachata 🫦🥵🔥 Romeo’s mark is evident in every meter and verse.” Another X user commented: “Rauw Alejandro should make a whole bachata album 😩 Silencio is so f*cking good😩.”

Bachata isn’t Rauw’s only “first” in the album. Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0 also features his first-ever salsa tracks, “Callejón de los Secretos” with Mon Laferte and “Mirando Al Cielo.” The album also features other genres like neo-bomba, reggaeton, fusions of house-bomba-plena, and more.
