Whether it’s the latest beauty must-have, a viral experience, or a cultural phenomenon, we’re here to give you the real scoop. Consider this your intel from your go-to Latine editors to decide what’s worth your time, money, and energy—straight from those who’ve tried it firsthand.

Just because you’re traveling doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your hair care routine. If anything it gets a little bit more complicated. And when it comes to my hair, I’m very particular about the shampoo and conditioner that I use. That’s where Sudz Cauldron comes in.

I don’t like using the shampoo and conditioners at hotels due to my sensitive skin. Travel size shampoo and conditioner bottles, they’re hard to find and often expensive. And all it takes is a full size shampoo bursting in your suitcase to stop you from ever doing that.

Of course you can buy shampoo and conditioner wherever you arrive. But if you’re traveling like I am, sometimes you don’t have the time or what you’re looking for isn’t as accessible. This is when I started dabbling in shampoo and conditioner bars. And even though I was skeptical in the beginning, it was easy to travel with and left my hair feeling great.

In 2025,  I’m trying to be a little bit more intentional about the businesses that I support. That’s why I wanted to try out Sudz Cauldron by Olivia Sanchez. They’re a Latina own brand whose focus is on small but mindful changes when it comes to hair care. They have shampoo and conditioner for various hair textures and have a commitment to being plastic free.

First Impressions

The shampoo and conditioner bars from Sudz Cauldron are easy to grip and don’t get slippery as much as you’d expect when you start using them. You also don’t have to really rub into your head to get the shampoo or conditioner to start working on your hair, a common misconception of shampoo and conditioner bars. And when you’re washing it off? It’s easier than regular shampoo and conditioner.

Pro-tip: After using the bars, set them out to dry. They’re much easier to travel with when dry and you can actually pop it back into the box that it came in if you don’t buy the travel box for the individual bars.

Also, if you’re looking for a shampoo and conditioner that leaves a lasting smell in your hair, this might not be for you. But it was perfect for me.

The Longevity Test

So far I’ve had these bars for a couple months and have taken them on multiple trips. The bars haven’t shrunk down as much as I expected them to. Also the shape makes it so when it gets smaller, it doesn’t fall apart as easily as square shaped shampoo and conditioners do.

In addition, I wash my hair practically every other day because my hair gets really oily. And I feel like this set of bars didn’t dry out my hair. Also they’re small enough that I can set them to the side to dry overnight and they don’t take up much space when I put them in my carry-on.

The Best Part

You’ve got options. That’s the best part. You can either go for the Clementine shampoo bar for curls or you can do something like the Helix shampoo bar for oily hair. You even have the Nova shampoo bar for dry hair. And the shampoos have matching conditioners for curls, hydration, and even toning.

Most shampoo and conditioner bars, at least in my opinion, are lacking when it comes to options for different hair types. I feel like that’s especially true when it comes to curls, who need a little bit more love and care, especially when you’re traveling and dealing with changes and weather and humidity.

Final Thoughts

As much as I think this is a perfect companion for the Latina who is consistently traveling and doesn’t want to sacrifice her hair beauty routine, I think that the Sudz Cauldron bars are also perfect for daily use at home. You’re using less plastic and waste. You’re also supporting a Latina owned business. Win win if you’re looking to be a little more intentional across multiple lanes in your life.

Sudz Cauldron shampoo and conditioner bars start at $9 each at sudzcauldron.com.
