Love is Blind Season 9’s wedding episodes are here, and only two couples walked down the aisle during the show’s finale episode: Ali and Anton, and Kalybriah and Edmond. But did anyone say “I do” during the show’s final episode? And did Ali get her happily ever after?

The answer is no. Ali and Anton did not get married in the final episode of Love is Blind Season 9. And, actually, no one did. For the first time in Love is Blind history, no couples got married. Instead, the season ended with a celebration of the women who put themselves first, to the tune of Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers.” Who would have thought?

Ali and Anton’s story started out well. They exchanged “I love yous” and had already gotten engaged by the time the first episode of Season 9 ended, always a really good sign. But as soon as they got out of the pods, it became obvious their lifestyles didn’t really mesh. There was Ali asking if Anton could support her and her lifestyle when she had kids and stayed home with them. Then there were Anton’s concerns about Ali, who is a nurse, not cleaning up after herself between shifts.

But the biggest issue came when Ali found out from the girlfriend of one of Anton’s friends that her fiancé enjoyed partying and visiting strip clubs. The two then addressed his drinking, with Ali concerned that he drank too frequently and Anton dismissing those concerns and telling her he didn’t have a drinking problem, because he could stop anytime.

All of that boiled over at the altar. Although Anton said yes, Ali couldn’t do the same. “I can’t be your wife. I feel like the person that I fell in love with in the pods isn’t the person I’ve gotten to experience in real life,” she explained.

She gave more context in her last confessional. “I don’t feel like he was super forthcoming about his lifestyle,” she said. “Drinking, partying, how active he is, how healthily he eats. Some of the information that I learned about Anton through his friends threw off my perspective of him.”

Love is Blind Season 9 is now available to stream on Netflix.
