Mario Ybarra Jr. – Double Feature – Honor Fraser

There’s nothing better than a double feature for film lovers, so art and pop culture fiends will get a treat with Mario Ybarra Jr’s “Double Feature.” The show combines two installations centering around the idea of popular culture, Ybarra’s background and artistic themes. In “Universal Monsters,” the artist takes a look in the mirror at Universal Studios’ ‘20s and ‘60s flicks to create fascinating self-portraits. Speaking of a man in a mirror, Ybarra also screens Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” alongside “An American Werewolf in London.” Then you can pay homage to “Scarface” in “Scarface Museum,” a collection of objects related to the film. Que mas quieres? Head to Honor Fraser for opening night January 12 at 6 p.m. Bring those film buff friends of yours, too.
