Argentinian defender Lisandro Martínez, part of the 2022 World Cup Squad and a member of Manchester United, is trading the fútbol pitch for something very different. At least for a limited time. Martínez and Crunchyroll have announced a limited-edition fashion drop, launching today, April 6.
The capsule collection takes Martínez’s Argentine roots and his love for shonen-style storytelling into wearable pieces that can be worn not just by anime fans, but by fútbol fans as well. A win/win for Martínez, who has long been an anime fan, and for Crunchyroll, which has found a way to connect fandom and storytelling with fútbol, just as the world starts preparing for yet another World Cup.
“Something I love about this collaboration is that it allows me to show a different side of myself,” said Martínez of the collaboration. “When you’re on the pitch, you get so caught up in the game and live it with such passion that, in a way, you end up transforming too—just like the anime characters. The nickname “The Butcher” was born from the fans, so I think it’s a great way for us to connect.”
The Crunchyroll x Lisandro Martínez collection consists of six items at various price points, including:
● The Butcher T-shirt – $50
● Licha T-Shirt – $50
● Licha Crewneck Sweatshirt – $65
● The Butcher Hoodie – $90
● Crew Socks – $20
● The Butcher Scarf – $35
The collection is available now exclusively on the Crunchyroll Store. Crunchyroll is an anime brand that aims to be the one-stop anime destination for fans around the world. Its streaming
service has the largest dedicated anime library on demand in the world, and the brand also offers theatrical releases, games, merchandise, and more.
