Comedian Marcello Hernández confirms that the accessories that took his Met Gala look from basic to chic came courtesy of his mom.
Walking hand in hand with girlfriend, Ana Amelia Baylor Cabral, the Saturday Night Live (SNL) star breaks down his look with comedic— and signature bilingual flair.
“This is Thom Browne,” says Hernández about his look while talking with Vogue correspondent La La Anthony. He then referred to a brooch on his chest and then on his arm. “My mom made me this, with Sammy Jeweler en la Calle ocho en Miami.”
The pin includes an “angel de la guarda” (angel of protection), an azabache (a protective amulet), and a Larimar stone. On his arm he had another azabache with “dios te bendiga” written on it.
This is Hernández’ first official Met Gala carpet appearance. And with architect girlfriend Cabral in a black-textured Oscar de la Renta gown, the duo are proving a classy— and divinely protected presence for this year’s Met Gala dress code of “Fashion as Art.”
