Karol G’s ‘Bby Wow’ Briefly Dethrones a Historic No. 1 Hit on Apple Music

Karol G has pulled off a chart feat many thought unlikely: ending Ella Langley’s reign at No. 1. Over Labor Day weekend, the Colombian singer knocked “Choosin’ Texas” from the top of the U.S. Apple Music all-genre songs chart.
Her single “BbY WOW,” a collaboration with Spanish artists Judeline and Rusowsky, rose to No. 1, dethroning Langley’s country-pop smash after one of the longest runs in chart history. “Choosin’ Texas” has spent much of 2026 looking like a permanent fixture at the top.
Langley’s song has dominated across virtually every major measure of U.S. music consumption. On the Billboard Hot 100, “Choosin’ Texas” reached its 20th week at No. 1 on the chart dated Sept. 5, making it the longest-running non-holiday song in the history of the 68-year-old chart. Only Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” with 22 weeks, has spent more time at No. 1.
The song has also logged historic runs on multiple charts while becoming one of the year’s defining crossover country hits. By late August, it had already spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales and 17 weeks atop Streaming Songs.
That makes Karol G’s Apple Music upset more than just another chart shuffle. It’s significant because listeners chose a different rhythm to close out the summer-long weekend.
Beyond the U.S. Apple Music charts, “BbY WOW” has also surged internationally, reaching No. 1 on Apple Music’s global chart and Spotify’s Global Top 50, while topping Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
Still, the upset wasn’t permanent. As of today (Tuesday, Sept. 8), “BbY WOW” has slipped to No. 2. Even so, the significance is clear: “BbY WOW” did what most songs in 2026 haven’t managed so far—and that’s a victory worth recognizing and celebrating.
