Many celebrities, including Latine musicians Maluma, Ricky Martin, and Kid Cudi, attended a luxurious fashion show in Miami Tuesday evening (November 30) to pay tribute to the late Virgil Abloh, the artistic director at Louis Vuitton and founder of the fashion label Off-White.

Abloh died on Sunday (November 28) after a private, two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. A fashion show for Abloh’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection had already been planned, so Louis Vuitton decided to continue with the showcase and turn it into an event to honor the streetwear designer.

The show began with a video titled, “Virgil was here.” In it, a statue of Abloh is seen facing a hot air balloon with the Louis Vuitton logo floating in the sky.

Martin shared the sentiment on social media.

Cudi, who performed at an after-party, also posted messages on social media remembering his friend, including a photo edited to make it look like Abloh was at the fashion show.

He also posted the last series of texts they shared this past weekend, discussing the event.

Maluma posted a short but reflective note about death, too.

Other celebrities who attended the fashion show included Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), Bella Hadid, Pharrell, and Joe Jonas.

“There’s no limit,” Abloh says in a pre-recorded message at the end of the fashion show video. “Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.”
