Actor Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight) is teaming up with Legendary Comics, writer Brian Buccellato and illustrator Christian Ward to develop a neo-noir graphic novel called Head Wounds: Sparrow. The original story follows a crooked New Orleans detective named Leo who is caught in a battle between good and evil that only he can see.

Currently, the project is looking for funders on Kickstarter. From its campaign website, Head Wounds describes Leo as someone living among angels and demons who “must choose a side or risk seeing everyone and everything he has ever known destroyed.”

In the video preview for the graphic novel, a cynical Leo explains why he has no hope for humanity. “The world is rotten – bunch of soulless bastards doing evil shi–,” he narrates. “From the gutters all the way up to the highest public offices, everyone is out for themselves, which kind of makes sense – because we’re all just a bunch of garbage people.”

Head Wounds: Sparrow is about 130 pages. Some of the page proofs shared with potential funders on its Kickstarter site include images of criminals doing bad things in The Big Easy. It’s not just happening in the streets though. It’s an election year, which means the hypocritical politicians are trying to clean up the city, so they can pretend to care about its citizens.

“As if the mayor can snap his fingers and magically force city workers to become difference makers, so he can get reelected,” the graphic novel reads. “Not f—ing likely.”

If Head Wounds doesn’t end up getting adapted into a feature film or TV series starring Oscar Isaac in the next few years, we’re going to be very disappointed.
