Julia Pretsfelder

Julia V. Pretsfelder is a journalist and creative writer born and raised in NYC. She was a member of the first graduating class of Latin American Studies majors at Amherst College where she studied race and racism in Buenos Aires, U.S. (mis)representations of latinidad, and Spanglish literature. After graduating, she lived in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala where she worked for a Maya Tz’utujil women weavers’ association. The V. in her middle name comes from her singer/actress bisabuela Vanda, one of many leftist Argentine foremothers who consistently inspires her to write about badass Latin@ artists and social movements.
