America Ferrera may not have won Best Supporting Actress at last night’s Oscars, but she certainly captured our attention with her stunning Barbie-inspired ensemble: a custom Versace pink gown. The gown represented a pivotal moment for Ferrera, as noted by her trusted hairstylist, Aviva Perea, who remarked, “America never really leaned into Pink during the entirety of the press tour.”

While much buzz surrounded her dress, her hair also garnered admiration, which beautifully complemented her overall look. Playing on the significance of Ferrera being one of just three Latinas ever being nominated in her category, her glam team followed three non-negotiables for her hair: “effortless, timeless, and enhances her natural beauty.”

And how did Ferrera’s hairstylist achieve the effortless wavy bob that stayed intact through a red carpet, a speech from Rita Moreno, and presenting an award? To keep frizz at bay and hydrate the hair without weighing it down, Perea used Brigeo’s Farewell Frizz Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioning Spray. For tools, Perea alternated between the ghd Chronos styler and ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron to enhance America’s natural waves. Then, for the finishing touches, she added Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair Strengthening Treatment Oil to her ends and ran their Superfoods Banana + Coconut Soft Wave Texture Spray through her hair, ensuring hydration and texture without sacrificing softness.

“A lot of texture sprays can leave the hair feeling dry, but this formula has banana extract and aloe vera creating hydration,” explains Perea.

With America Ferrera’s hair standing strong through the excitement of Ryan Gosling’s performance of “I’m Just Ken,” it’s clear that this styling is one to keep in the folder for festival and summer season upon us.
