Latina empowerment brand JZD launched a new capsule collection with Brooks Running today (April 2) that celebrates community, culture and belonging. This is the Latina brand’s first major partnership and marks a milestone for Latine and LGBTQ+ visibility in sports and fashion. The collection features an exclusive Brooks running shoe, a sweat set, and a t-shirt with sayings and subtle yet bold designs centered around the intersection of Latinidad and queerness.
“This collaboration means so much to us personally, not just as small business owners, but as Queer Latinas. At a time when so many brands are quietly stepping away from their commitment to human rights, especially around LGBTQIA+ rights and representation, Brooks choosing to stand alongside us feels powerful,” wife duo and JZD founders Jen Serrano and Vero Vasquez tell Remezcla. “It’s a reminder that visibility and allyship matter. To be seen, supported, and celebrated in this way is deeply meaningful. It’s not just about a shoe, it’s about showing our community that we belong, that our stories matter, and that there’s space for us in every lane, including the running world.”
One of the details the couple says they are most excited about in this collection is the Spanglish quote on the sneaker’s midsole that reads, “This shoe es para ti.”
“Launching our partnership with JZD is an incredible moment for both brands,” says Stevie Jones, senior brand partnerships manager at Brooks Running. “Through this product collection we have an opportunity to introduce our respective communities to each other’s brands and invite more people in, doing so through the power of movement.”

Serrano and Vasquez share that the most fun part of creating this collection was bringing together both of their worlds, the performance and legacy of Brooks with the cultural storytelling and bold visuals JZD is known for.
Serrano and Vasquez launched their brand in 2016 and first went viral with their pink Latina Power t-shirt that has been seen on many celebrities including Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba, and Aimee Carrero. They went viral again when Target pulled some of their Pride items from shelves or moved from main traffic areas after right-wing backlash in 2022.
The Brownsville, Texas-based couple have built their brand on creating apparel that prominently feature positive affirmations, funny phrases, and at times, political statements against xenophobia and racism.

“This kind of partnership is exactly how change continues to move forward, even when it feels like the world is trying to go backwards. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to share these pieces with our beautiful community,” they say.
Items in the Brooks x JZD Collection are available for a limited time, with pieces running from $36 – $170. The collection is available today on brooksrunning.com and Brooks retail store in Seattle and will be available at www.ShopJZD.com on April 8.
