Rio Uribe, the designer behind the former brand, Gypsy Sport, is always ahead of the fashion curve with his subversive looks and designs. But now he’s bringing his independent brand to mainstream audiences via his latest collaboration with Chrome Industries.

The Chrome X RIO collection is a debut capsule collection that combines Chrome Industries’ utilitarian silhouettes with Rio Uribe’s signature “haturn print.” The bags are inspired by the emblematic Y2K all-over print designs, and are offered in black and white colorways across four distinct bags: the Rodo sling ($65), Citizen 15L Messenger ($160), Kadet Max ($140), and Kadet sling ($100).

In addition to the capsule bag launch, Uribe was also named the Creative Director of Chrome Industries, an opportunity that Uribe says he’s been “manifesting for over a year.”

The Chrome X RIO bags made their public debut at NYFW in early September, which is around the same time that Uribe officially debuted Rio to replace Gypsy Sport, a label name that often  received criticism and speculation. Uribe has long considered re-launching his brand, and the announcement of a new name has been highly anticipated since his last NYFW runway collection under the former name in 2023.

Uribe’s Haturn symbol has been featured across several garments, including most recently as an embossed cross body bag known as the mini UFO bag.

The Chrome X Rio bags however, are the antithesis of these mini iridescent bags. True to the Chrome Industries style, the bags prioritize functionality and durability, making them ideal for travel, play, and wear.

The Chrome X RIO capsule collection is now available for pre-order exclusively on ChromeIndustries.com
