In an exclusive interview with Remezcla, he opens up about his humble beginnings, fall hair trends, and tips for boosting your confidence through hairstyling.

You always express how connected you are to your inner child. Did you feel from a young age that you were destined for something great?
“I remember closing my eyes when I was about nine years old. I knew there was a higher power somewhere in the universe, and I would speak to it. I told the universe, ‘I know there’s something greater out there, and I want to achieve it.’
“I think back to that little boy who grew up with so little—knocking on doors to take out the trash or run errands because I didn’t even have shoes. My father had 16 children, so getting something as simple as a new pair of shoes or a notebook for school was a challenge. I started working at a young age to make it happen.”

How do you feel about taking orgullo Mexicano to the next level?
“We Mexicans—and all Latin Americans—have something special: passion and love for helping each other. The message I want to share is that if I can achieve my dreams, others can, too. Whatever their dream may be, it’s possible. Even if the reward isn’t immediate, it will come eventually.”
What are the fall hair trends you’re seeing?

“I’m loving super soft, shiny waves that give hair a polished look. Messier waves are also in, offering a more relaxed, natural style. And for something elegant, an updo is always a great choice to highlight your face.”
Speaking of your face, not everyone requires the same direction in hairstyling. How do you get inspired by the different faces you work with?
“It’s about playing with the harmony of the face and, for example, adding volume to the top of the head or adjusting the forehead’s appearance if it’s wide. I like creating corrective styles that enhance confidence. If someone feels insecure about their ears, we can cover them with an updo or fuller hair. It’s all about making them feel secure and beautiful.”

Working with different hair types requires skill and adaptability. What techniques or tools do you rely on most to achieve great results?
“Thin or very fine hair can be tricky to work with, especially when there’s not much to work with. In those cases, I focus on creating volume using tools like the Flex Style tool that help lift the hair, and sometimes I’ll incorporate mode” n extensions for a fuller, more natural look.”
What’s your best styling tip there’s for someone whose curls fall out easily?

“If curls don’t last long, I recommend using a straightener like the Flex Air Straightener, which works on dry hair and helps curls hold longer. Pair it with a strong, durable hairspray to lock in the style all day.”
