Waking up on a rainy, disrespectfully cold New York Sunday morning to the news that A$AP Mob founder, Steven Rodriguez, aka Yams, has died at 26. Yams founded A$AP Mob with A$AP Bari and A$AP Illz in 2007. People are taking to social media to express their sadness for the loss of a friend and brilliant mind.

His vision, attention, and knowledge of culture is arguably a reason why rap sounds like it does, why we take prison poses for the ‘grams, stay cozy 24/7 and how we talk. In these social media days he recognized it’s leverage, formed a brand and lifestyle that still resonates today. So it’s only right his humor and view on life is being memorialized on Twitter with #YamsTweets. An icon and thought leader to a generation that has seen it all through the scroll of their Tumblrs. The cause of death has yet been confirmed.

Toast To The God. Long Live Yams.
