Four months after the death of music legend Vicente Fernández, his son, singer Alejandro Fernández, has decided it is finally time to speak publicly about the loss of his father.

Fernández had posted photos of “El Charro de Huentitán” on Instagram since his passing, but he recently spoke to Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo about how the death of his father has impacted him.

“It’s a roller coaster of feelings,” Fernández said. “Suddenly, you think you’re fine. Suddenly, you feel like you’re over it. Suddenly, you get some impressive slumps where you miss him.”

Not only is Fernández talking about his father, but he’s also sharing his thoughts about how the entire family is making sure that his mother is taken care of during this difficult time. Although he didn’t mention it, his mother, “Doña Cuquita,” has faced challenges in the past few months speaking out against an unauthorized TV bioseries being broadcast about her late husband.

Fernández said. “We are taking great care of her. We have spent a lot of time with her.”

If anything positive has come out of the last few months, it’s that Alejandro Fernández has found strength in his granddaughters, Cayetana and Mía. Cayetana was born last year to Fernández’s daughter, Camila. Mia was born last month to Fernández’s son, Alex.

“Somewhere, life took away from me one of the most important things that is my father, but on the other hand, I was also able to celebrate the life of Cayetana and the life of Mía, who was just born just a month ago,” Alejandro Fernández said. “Sometimes you cry at the departure of someone, and suddenly it compensates you with such a beautiful gift that in addition to a granddaughter, it is to celebrate someone’s life.”
