Undoubtedly, in her short time in Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made a splash. From proposing the Green New Deal – a congressional resolution that aims to address climate change – to making sure everyone in her team makes at least $52,000 a year, Ocasio-Cortez and her politics have taken center stage. And it’s one reason why AOC will soon get her own comic book.
Devil’s Due Comics announced last week that on May 15, it will release a special issue titled Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force, which will feature satirical vignettes where AOC takes on Republicans.
“It’s no secret that AOC has become the unofficial leader of the new school, and has sparked life back into Washington and that’s reflected in the enthusiasm on display by the men and women contributing to this project,” said Devil’s Due Publisher Josh Blaylock. “While we all don’t agree on everything, we share a common excitement for the breath of fresh air the new Congress brings. I hope this is as much a cathartic release for readers as it has been for us creators.”
Part of the proceeds from the comic book will go toward Refugee Aid Project by community activists in South Texas (RAICES) and the USO.
